Scholars’ Development Fund (SDF)

Scholars in need of financial aid who would be presenting a paper at the NTSSA Annual Conference can apply for funding to attend the conference through the Scholars’ Development Fund. The SDF support includes the conference registration fee, local travel (unfortunately, international flights are not covered), accommodation and a daily allowance of R250 for meals. The Development Officer of the NTSSA processes the applications and the Treasurer does the bookings. Grant applicants should be signed-up members of the NTSSA when the application is processed, and who have settled their annual membership fee (R150 is the required minimum for SDF candidates).

Applications must be submitted to the Development Officer of the NTSSA, Paul Adebayo (timiadebayo45@gmail.com), in writing on or before Thursday 25 May 2023, and such applications must contain the following:

  • Full personal details (including ID no, academic institution and contact details);
  • Brief narrative CV (maximum two pages);
  • Letter of recommendation from your supervisor or another academic staff member of your institution, or a member of the NTSSA;
  • An abstract of the paper that you plan to present (maximum 500 words; this must have been approved and such candidate shortlisted to present a paper at the conference);

Applications for flight and accommodation support also need to be submitted to the Treasurer, Petra Dijkhuizen, by 25 May 2023 (treasurer@newtestament.org.za). Please indicate clearly the requested dates and furnish the needed personal details.

Successful SDF applicants need to register for the conference on the website, but payment will be handled by the Treasurer (choose “EFT/Direct Bank Deposit” as the payment option).
